Razzaque: Religious fanatics and bigots want to confuse people

He warns of stricter action against any attempt to disrupt communal harmony

Agriculture Minister Dr Muhammad Abdur Razzaque on Friday said the religious fanatics and the bigots of the country want to disturb the communal peace through propagating confusing and false explanation of Islam.

He threatened tougher action if they tried to disrupt the communal harmony.

The minister was speaking as the chief guest at a function organized on the occasion of Christmas Day at Jalchhatra Dharmapalli in Madhupur of Tangail.

At that time, he exchanged greetings with the members of the Christian community, cut cakes and enjoyed a cultural program performed by local artists.

People of all religions including the local Awami League leaders were present on the occasion.

On the eve of the Christmas Day, President M Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina have greeted the Christians and asked them to celebrate the day maintaining Covid-19 guidelines.

President Hamid said Bangladesh is a shining example of communal harmony in the world and urged all to consolidate the long-standing tradition irrespective of religion, caste and position.

He said the teachings and ideals of Jesus Christ are very relevant in establishing peace and harmony in a trouble-torn world and in establishing harmony and unity among nations.

Meanwhile, the premier in her message said Jesus sacrificed himself for the poor and starving people while his ideal lifestyle and strict characteristics still remain immortal in human history.
