Three-day ban on tourists in Thanchi, Rowangchhari for UP polls
Outsiders will be able to visit the upazilas’ tourist spots from December 27

The authorities in Bandarban have banned the movement of outsiders, mostly the tourists, in Thanchi and Rowangchhari upazilas from Friday for three days.
“The restrictions have been imposed to ensure free and fair elections,” Deputy Commissioner Yasmin Parveen Tibrizi told Dhaka Tribune on Thursday.
Eight union parishads under the two upazilas will go to polls in the fourth phase on Sunday.
“We’ve taken strict measures to avert any kind of untoward incidents,” she said, adding that the local residents would not face any obstructions.
During the ban, the outsiders will not be able to visit Nafakhum, Boro Pathor and Remakri Falls in Thanchi, and Debotakhum in Rowangchhari – some of the top tourist attractions in the Chittagong Hill Tracts.
