RAB: Yaba trader killed in Ukhiya gunfight

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has claimed that a yaba trader has been killed in a gunfight with its members in Ukhiya of Cox’s Bazar.

The deceased is Jahangir Alam, 35, of Balukhali Jomidarpara under Palongkhali Union.

RAB-7 Senior Assistant Director (Media) Flight Lt Niaz Mohammad Chapal confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.

A patrol team of RAB-7 came under attack early Sunday near Kakra Bridge of Balukhali. RAB retaliated in defence, prompting the smugglers to flee the scene. 

Later the body of Jahangir was found with 70,000 yaba pills, a one-shooter gun and ammunition, the official said.

On November 11, RAB recovered 170,000 yaba pills from Jahangir’s elder brother. Moreover, Myanmar currency was found from Jahangir’s sister-in-law.
