Body of 5-year-old found in shopping bag in Comilla

The decomposed body of a five-year-old girl who had gone missing last week has been recovered from a bush in Comilla’s Debidwar upazila.
Members of Comilla Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) and Debidwar police visited the spot near one Akbar Sarkar's house in Elahabad union of the upazila.
According to the police, a local noticed a human leg coming out of a shopping bag left in a bush while going to the market on Sunday morning.
The deceased is Fahima Akhter, daughter of Amir Hossain. Fahima’s father and grandfather identified the body.
Officer-in-Charge Arifur Rahman of Debidwar police station said: “It is assumed that the body has been dumped by someone about 3-4 days ago. As the body has been swollen, injury or struggle marks are not visible now.”
Fahima went missing on November 7, her father said. “We searched for her, and even posted on social media about her disappearance. On November 11, we filed a general diary with the police.”
The body was later sent to Comilla Medical College Hospital’s morgue for an autopsy to find the reasons behind her death.
