Two people have been killed and several others injured when a bus overturned on the Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway at Membarbari in Gazipur city.
One of the deceased was identified as Kona, 20, daughter of Mostafa Kamal of Sreepur upazila while the other victim could not be identified immediately.
Quoting witnesses, Kamal Hossain, officer-in-charge of Mawna Highway police station, said the accident occurred around 10:15am on Monday as the Gazipur-bound bus of “Soukhin Paribahan” from Mymensingh skidded off the road and overturned after its driver lost control over the steering, leaving two people dead on the spot.
Kona met the tragic death on her way to sit for an exam at the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agriculture University in Salna, he added.
On information, police recovered the bodies and retrieved the bus from the highway.
