Police have detained 16 leaders of the Jamaat-e-Islami from a mosque in Bokshiganj upazila of Jamalpur.
Acting on a tip-off about a secret meeting on anti-government activities, law enforcers raided the local Jahurul Haque Member Bari Jame Masjid at around 3pm on Wednesday, according to police.
Police also seized a car during the raid, said Bokshiganj police station OC Shafiqul Islam Samrat.
After quizzing the detainees, legal action would be taken on the instructions of the district superintendent of police, added the OC.
