Rickshaw puller reportedly killed over parking dispute

A rickshaw puller was allegedly beaten to death by another at a rickshaw garage in the Hujurpara area of Kamrangirchar in Dhaka.
The deceased was identified as Shafikul Islam, 50, from the Doshteki area of Bogra sadar upazila.
His son Khalid Hasan Milu said: “While my father was cleaning the garage, Mohammad Hossain, 25, came there and sought entry. My father told him to take a side and go.
“An altercation started. At one stage, Hossain beat my father severely.”
When Shafikul lost consciousness, the accused fled the scene, he added.
Later, locals took the injured Shafikul to a nearby private hospital, where the on-duty doctor pronounced him dead.
Kamrangirchar police recovered the body on Wednesday morning and sent it to the morgue of Sir Salimullah Medical College and Mitford Hospital for autopsy.
Sub-Inspector (SI) Robi Ahsan said that Milu filed a murder case against Hossain on Tuesday night. “We are trying to catch him as soon as possible.”
