Police have recovered the hanging bodies of two teenage girls in separate incidents in Tangail’s Basail upazila.
The incidents were reported on Wednesday evening, said Basail police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Harun Ur Rashid.
The deceased have been identified as Sharmin Akhter, 15, from Kauljani Bird Bazar area, and Mukta, 15, from Bertha Dakshin Para village of the upazila.
Sharmin’s Akhter’s body was found hanging at a neighbour’s place. She was rushed to the local hospital where doctors declared her dead. It is being suspected that she committed suicide following a dispute with her mother.
Meanwhile, Mukta’s body was found hanging in her own house. She was also declared dead on arrival at the Basail Upazila Health Complex.
The bodies have been kept at the police station and police will launch investigations, said Basail police chief.
