The university authorities of Pabna Science and Technology University (Pust) have postponed the Turkey visit of a delegation to buy lifts on orders of President Mohammed Shahabuddin.
The six-member delegation will not go to Turkey to buy lifts now as instructed by President Mohammed Shahabuddin, Faruk Hossain Chowdhury, deputy director of the Public Relations Office of Pust said on Friday.
The six-member delegation of Pust was scheduled to go to Turkey for a pre-shipment inspection of lifts Tuesday.
Under the leadership of University Pro Vice Chancellor Professor Dr SM Mostafa Kamal Khan, the delegation included Treasurer Professor Dr KM Salah Uddin, University Engineer (Acting) Farid Ahmed, university engineers Md Ripon Ali, Zahir Mohammad Ziaul Abedin, and Project Director Lt Col (retd) GM Azizur Rahman.
Meanwhile, it has been reported that the university officials did not cancel the trip, despite the widespread criticism from all over Bangladesh. Instead, they sent a letter of protest to the media directed at people opposing the authority's decision.
