Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque has refuted the claims made by the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) regarding the election.
The minister said: "BNP is lying about the election. They are not neutral, they are very much opinionated. If you look at the Gazipur city corporation election, it can be understood that the neutral election can be held under Sheikh Hasina. BNP's talk about the election has been proven false."
He made these remarks during the inauguration of the Muktijoddha Complex building in Ramu, Cox's Bazar, on Sunday afternoon.
The minister laid wreaths and unveiled a plaque displaying the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
AKM Mozammel Haque said: "We have been governing the country for 23 years under the guidance of Bangabandhu and Sheikh Hasina. On the other hand, the BNP, Jamaat, and Ershad collectively ruled for 29 years. Assessing the country's development will reveal who has contributed more. Bangladesh's progress today is a testament to the leadership of Sheikh Hasina. Fair elections are feasible under her administration. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has brought the people of the country under the umbrella of social security, ensuring that they are no longer hungry or homeless."
