A bus collided with a car transporting Pakistan's Deputy High Commissioner Qamar Abbas Khokhar and his family on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Brahmanbaria on Friday.
The incident took place in the Rampur area of Brahmanbaria's Bijoynagar upazila at around 11:30am.
The envoy, his wife Rehena Sarwar Khokhar, daughter Huda Abbas Khokhar and son Mohammad Khokhar sustained minor injuries in the crash.
Qamar Abbas Khokhar, who was behind the wheel at the time, was on his way to Sreemangal in Moulvibazar.
Khatihata Highway police Officer-in-Charge Akul Chandra Biswas said a Duranta Paribahan bus collided with the deputy high commissioner's private car in the Rampur area and that the impact caused significant damage to the car's front end.
The OC further stated that the bus helper, Md Saiufl Islam, was detained and the bus was seized following the incident.
However, the bus driver managed to flee from the scene, he said.
Legal proceedings are currently underway in relation to the incident, he added.
