President Shahabuddin reaches Pabna for 4-day visit

President Mohammed Shahabuddin on Monday arrived in his home district of Pabna on a four-day visit. This is his first visit since taking office as the 22nd president of the country.

The head of state reached Shaheed Advocate Amin Uddin Stadium at about 12pm by a helicopter, confirmed Pabna Deputy Commissioner Biswas Rasel Hossain.

According to president's travel itinerary signed by Protocol Officer Md Nabirul Islam, Mohammed Shahabuddin will inaugurate the name plaque of Bangabandhu Chattar and lay a floral wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu at the Zilla Parishad at 1:35pm on Monday. 

Then at 1:45pm, he will visit the grave of his parents in the Arifpur graveyard of Pabna Sadar, and offer a floral tribute, followed by prayers (Munajat).

Then Mohammed Shahabuddin will visit the family graveyard at Square Baganbari, lay a floral wreath and participate in prayers at 2pm. 

The president will then return to the Circuit House to spend the night. 

The head of state will inaugurate the Square Science and Life plant in the Pabna BSCIC Industrial area at 10am on Tuesday. At 11am, he will exchange greetings with journalists at Pabna Press Club and later at 3pm, he will attend a civic reception at Pabna Government Edward College ground.

On Wednesday, President Shahabuddin will visit Pabna Diabetic Shamity at 11am. Then, at 4pm, he will visit the Pabna District and Sessions Judge Court, inaugurate a museum, Bangabandhu corner and Bangabandhu mural and exchange views with lawyers. Later, he will visit Bir Muktijoddha Mohammad Shahabuddin Chuppu Amusement Park at 5pm. 

On Thursday, after receiving the guard of honour at the Circuit House at 11:30am, he will depart for Dhaka at 11:40am.

Pabna Superintendent of Police Akbar Ali Munshi said security has been ensured at all levels centring on the president's visit to Pabna. 

“A three-tier security measures have been taken to secure the entire Pabna city,” he added. 

Pabna Deputy Commissioner Biswas Rasel Hossain said all preparations surrounding the president's visit to Pabna had been completed. 

“The administration is committed to keeping his Pabna visit smooth and peaceful,” he added.

Pabna Nagorik Committee Member Secretary Abdul Matin Khan said a civic reception will be held on Tuesday afternoon to honour the president by Pabna people.

“A festive atmosphere is prevailing among the people of Pabna regarding his visit,” he added.
