To tackle the impending Cyclone Mocha, 746 shelters and six Mujib Killas have been prepared across the seven upazilas of Bhola.
The district administration, led by Deputy Commissioner Md Toufiq-E-Leahi Chowdhury, has taken three-tier preparation to face the potentially devastating effects of the cyclone.
These preparations include equipping 93 medical teams and opening eight control rooms.
In addition, approximately 13,600 members of the cyclone preparedness program (CPP) and nearly 5,000 Red Crescent volunteers stand ready to assist.
Md Toufiq-E-Leahi Chowdhury stated: "We have prepared for the cyclone on three fronts: before the disaster, during the disaster, and in its aftermath."
The deputy commissioner further said that the district administration is prepared to handle the cyclone's aftermath, with an emergency fund of Tk8 lakh, 350 tons of rice, 164 bundles of tin, and Tk492,000 for housing reconstruction.
Furthermore, requests have been sent for an additional Tk15 lakh for home reconstruction, 50 bundles of corrugated iron sheet, and 5,000 packets of dry food, he said.
Local administrations in all seven upazilas have held preparation meetings to handle the cyclone.
Moreover, a coordination meeting with NGOs, district administration and upazila administration was held on Saturday to reduce the future risks and damages caused by Cyclone Mocha.
The skies over Bhola district started gathering clouds on Saturday morning.
Rain has been reported in the nearby regions of Charfesson and Monpura upazilas.
On-the-ground observations revealed that administration officials, police, and CPP workers were using loudspeakers to encourage residents in the riverside areas of Bhola to seek safe shelter.
All ferry operations, including those on all internal routes of the district, have been suspended for safety reasons.
The very severe cyclonic storm Mocha is likely to intensify further and move in a north-northwesterly direction and cross Cox's Bazar-North Myanmar's coast between 6am to 6pm on Sunday.
