Three children of the same family drowned in a pond in Patuakhali's Kalapara upazila on Friday.
The incident took place in Zia Colony area in Tiakhali union at around 12:30pm.
The deceased were identified as Sharmin, 6, Ruman, 8, children of Sohel Fakir and Maryam, 8, daughter of Rubel Fakir.
Kalapara Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Muhammad Jasim confirmed the matter.
According to police and locals, the trio slipped into the pond next to their house while they were playing near its bank.
At first, locals spotted Sharmin as floating at the pond.
After a frantic search, the other minors were rescued as unconscious from the pond.
Later, they were taken to a local hospital where doctors declared the trio dead.
The OC said that a team was sent to the spot.
