Kamal Hossain, rhe officer-in-charge of the Thakurgaon Sadar police station, has been withdrawn over torturing a Jubo League leader.
Thakurgaon Superintendent of Police Mohammad Jahangir Hossain confirmed the matter on Thursday afternoon.
Sadar police station OC Kamal Hossain has been attached to Rangpur range office due to administrative reasons, said the SP.
In his place, OC (investigation) Ziarul Islam has been given the responsibility of acting OC.
Earlier on Thursday, Thakurgaon District Jubo League Organizing Secretary Asaduzzaman Pulak filed a case against OC Kamal Hossain and four other police officers in Thakurgaon District and Sessions Judge Court.
After a long hearing, District and Sessions Judge Mamunur Rashid ordered the Thakurgaon Superintendent of Police to accept the complaint as a FIR.
At the same time, the court ordered a judicial inquiry and ordered the District Civil Surgeon to treat the plaintiff, said acting PP Advocate Abdul Hamid confirming the court order.
The accused in the court complaint are OC Kamal Hossain, OC (Operation) Md Latif, SI Khoka Chandra Roy and Mohammad Hafiz and ASI Md Motaleb
On the night of April 29, the police arrested Rocky and Pulak on the complaint that trouble was going on at the Boishakhi fair in the public club ground of the city.
Later, the arrestees were taken to the police station and allegations of torture were raised against the policemen.
When Pulak fell ill at night, he was taken to Thakurgaon General Hospital for treatment.
Later, he was sent to jail.
However, Pulak was granted bail on May 2.
