The Chhagalnaiya-Srinagar border haat in Feni district is set to reopen on May 9 after remaining closed for three years.
Additional district magistrate of Feni Abhishek Das confirmed the information, adding that the haat will remain open every Tuesday of the week from May 9.
He said that due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the border haats were closed after March 3, 2020 as per the decision of the management committee of Bangladesh and India. The border haat management committee of the two countries held a meeting on Wednesday regarding the reopening of the haat.
According to this decision, entry tickets to the border haat will be sold at the Upazila Nirbahi Officer's office in Bangladesh on Mondays of every week.
Besides, the meeting also decided to ensure the security of the haat to prevent smuggling and to stop the harassment of buyers and sellers.
