Eight people, including three teenagers, were killed and five others were injured by lightning strikes in Sylhet and Moulvibazar on Sunday.
The deceased were Milon Mia, 14, and Tara Mia, 35, from Sunamganj's Dowarabazar upazila, Mahim Mia, 13, Arash Ali, 65, and Abdus Samad from Chhatak upazila, Ramjan Mia, 14, from Tahirpur upazila, Riaz Uddin, 30, from Moulvibazar's Sreemangal upazila and Sama Shabdakar, 45, from Kamolganj upazila.
Dowarabazar police station OC Deb Dulal said Milon and Tara died on the spot while harvesting paddy.
Chhatak police station OC Khan Md Mainul Zakir said Mahim died while working in a paddy field in Debergaon village, while Arash and Samad died in a field in Barakapan village.
Ramjan was also harvesting paddy when he was struck by lightning, Tahirpur police OC Syed Iftekhar Hossain said.
Meanwhile, Sreemangal Upazila Health Complex Medical Officer Dr Ajanta Debi said Riaz was brought in dead at the hospital.
His wife said he went to the haor area to harvest paddy.
Kamalganj police station SI Kamrul Islam said Sama went to bring his cattle home and was struck by lightning.
