A honey collector (Moual) has gone missing after a tiger attack in the Talpatti area of the Sundarban's Satkhira range.
The fellow honey collectors, upon returning home on Saturday, alleged that he had been taken away by a tiger.
The missing honey collector was identified as Montu Gazi, 52, the son of Sabud Ali Gazi from Chakbara village in Gabura union.
Honey collector Ruhul Amin Mali reported that he, Montu, and 18 others entered the Sundarbans on two boats to collect honey on April 1.
The group inadvertently entered the Indian side of the mangrove forest on April 16, leading to the seizure of their boats by the Border Security Force (BSF).
Using makeshift boats, the team returned to the Bangladesh side of the forest.
On Wednesday night, they were resting in the Talpatti area in exhausted condition.
Suddenly, they woke up hearing the roar of a tiger.
Panic-stricken, they fled, only to realize later that Montu was no longer with them.
They discovered tiger footprints in the area but decided to return home without Montu, believing he had been taken and killed by the tiger.
Confirming the incident, Gabura Union Parishad member Abiar Rahman said 19 honey collectors returned home, but one remains missing.
Burigoalini Forest Station Officer Nurul Islam stated that they had not yet been informed about the incident.
