A general diary has been filed against the bodyguard of Deputy Minister for Education Mohibul Hassan Chowdhoury Nowfel allegedly for the physical assault and misbehaviour with the Kotwali police station officer-in-charge at an event in Chittagong.
The incident took place on Thursday afternoon when OC Jahidul Kabir was providing protocol to the deputy minister at an event for the distribution of Eid materials in Firingi Bazar area of Patharghata.
At one point, the bodyguard, Assistant Sub-Inspector Shantu Shil, pushed the OC with his elbow from behind, injuring his right hand. The ASI also engaged in an argument with the OC as he protested the assault.
When the OC drew the deputy minister's attention to the matter, the latter then took the duo to a nearby room to quell the situation. Nowfel also asked the OC to file a written complaint.
OC Jahidul said he had filed the general diary against ASI Shantu with Kotwali police station on Thursday night. At the same time, he gave a written complaint to CMP Commissioner Krishna Pada Roy seeking justice.
CMP Deputy Commissioner of Police (Sadar) Abdul Warish said they would investigate the matter after Eid while the commissioner told Bangla Tribune that they would take necessary measures after an investigation.
The deputy minister could not be reached for comments on the matter.
