Tangail Awami League leader gets anticipatory bail in rape case

The case was filed by a teenage girl with Tangail Sadar police station on the night of April 5

The High Court has granted four-week anticipatory bail to Tangail city Awami League Vice President and District Bus Coach Minibus Owners Association General Secretary Golam Kibria Boro Moni in the rape case. 

The bench of Justice Iqbal Kabir and Justice AKM Rabiul Hasan granted the bail application on Tuesday afternoon. The court also granted anticipatory bail to Boro Moni's wife Nigar Aftab. They applied for bail on Sunday.

After four weeks, Boro Moni will appear in the lower court, Supreme Court lawyer Golam Sarwar said.

From a press conference on Monday, Tangail-2 lawmaker Tanvir Hasan Chhoto Moni alleged that his elder brother was a victim of conspiracy by a family in Tangail and one Moshiuzzaman Romel. 

The case was filed by a teenage girl with Tangail Sadar police station on the night of April 5. Later, the girl gave a statement under Section 22 in court on April 6.

However, according to the date of occurrence mentioned in the case, the girl was raped about three and a half months ago. But the medical examination revealed that the girl is six months pregnant
