A case has been filed against the office assistant of AR Khan Secondary School on the charge of sexually abusing a third-grade student in Barisal.
The schoolgirl's uncle filed the case as the plaintiff with Barishal Metropolitan's Bandar police station on Saturday.
The accused in the case is Anichur Rahman Farazi, 40, son of Manoj Ali Farazi of Char Aicha area in Barisal's Charkaua union.
Bandar police station Officer-in-Charge Asaduzzaman said: “An operation is underway to arrest the accused in the case lodged under the Women and Child Abuse Act. Besides, the child has been sent to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital for physical examination.”
The third grader said that office assistant Anichur Rahman used to tutor students in a classroom at AR Khan Secondary School after school hours.
On Thursday afternoon, the other child was sent home, and Anichur asked the girl to stay and write the same thing twice. After everyone left the classroom, Anichur physically abused her.
A local resident named Zakir Hossain said that the child does not have a father; his mother works as domestic help in other people's homes.
The child started behaving abnormally after going home, as the accused had also cut her hand with a blade and hit her head against the wall. When her mother asked the reason, she revealed the matter, and her mother reported the matter to the school authorities.
Meanwhile, AR Khan Secondary School Headmaster Shafiqur Rahman said: “Anichur Rahman has been temporarily suspended from the school in this incident. Further action will be taken after investigating the incident.”
A meeting of the school's management committee has been called for next Monday. A committee will be formed to investigate the incident at the meeting. Final action will be taken after receiving the investigation report, he further said.
Charkaua Union Parishad Ward No 5 Member Mostafizur Rahman Nantu said that this is not a case to be solved locally. There will be danger even if people go to arbitration over this incident. So he reported the matter to the administration.
