The bus workers and owners' association has stopped the bus service from Kushtia to Faridpur and Khulna route for an indefinite period from Friday morning in protest against the vandalism by the workers union.
Kushtia District Bus-Minibus Coach Owners Association President Mohammad Akhtaruzzaman confirmed the bus strike to Dhaka Tribune.
A passenger named Md Solaiman Hossain said that he has to go to Khulna for urgent needs. “I came in the morning and saw that the bus service was stopped. Now we have to think of alternatives to go to Khulna. Common passengers have suffered due to sudden stoppage of such buses,” he added.
Dhaka TribuneMohammad Akhtaruzzaman said that people of Jhenaidah labour union vandalized a bus on Wednesday. In protest, an indefinite bus strike has started on Kushtia to Faridpur and Khulna roads since Friday morning.
He also said that if the administration does not take immediate action, all routes from Kushtia will be stopped from April 10.
