A local businessman died due to smoke inhalation while extinguishing a fire that broke out at a cotton warehouse in Bhola sadar on Monday night.
The deceased was identified as Ibrahim, 45.
According to fire service sources, the fire broke out at the warehouse around 10:30pm from an electric short circuit.
On information, four firefighting units rushed to the spot and doused the fire after two hours of frantic effort at around 12:30am.
The district police and local Red Crescent teams rushed to the spot to assist in extinguishing the fire.

Quoting the fire service, Shahin Fakir, officer-in-charge of Bhola sadar police station, said that five houses were also gutted in the fire.
Ibrahim died after inhaling smoke while he was helping the fire service to bring the fire under control, said the OC.
He said the source of the fire is currently being investigated. “Goods worth around Tk1 crore may have been damaged in the fire.”
