Madaripur crash: Probe body visits site

The investigation committee has been asked to submit the report within two working days

A four-member committee formed under additional district magistrate visited the Dhaka-Bhanga Expressway accident site at Madaripur's Shibchar area on Monday morning.

The investigation committee headed by Madaripur Additional District Magistrate Pallab Kumar Hazra and a delegation of Buet have started the investigation work.

Members of the investigation committee spoke to many witnesses, including local shopkeepers. Apart from this, the committee members are supposed to visit various places including the accident bus, hospital.

The investigation committee has been asked to submit the report within two working days.

The head of the investigation committee, Pallab Hazra, said: "The investigation committee has started its activities. Attempts are being made to investigate the cause of the accident. We will submit our report within the stipulated time.”

Earlier, a bus of Emad Paribahan lost control and fell down the expressway in Shibchar's Qutubpur area. In this incident, 19 people have died so far and at least 30 people were injured.

Among the injured, three persons are admitted to Islami Hospital of Shibchar, one person to Life Care Hospital, one person in Royal Hospital and some are admitted to various hospitals in Shibchar. Seven people are admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
