Sirajganj district unit Chhatra League (BCL) has suspended its leader for his involvement in alleged extortion and vandalism in a primary school in Sirajganj's Tarash upazila.
The suspended BCL leader is Rana Mandal, organizing secretary of Tarash upazila Chhatra League.
The matter was informed in a press release signed by Sirajganj District BCL President Ahsan Habib Khoka and General Secretary Abdullah Bin Ahmed on Monday evening.
As mentioned in the press release, Rana was suspended from the post for his activities against the party constitution.
He has also been asked to give a written reply within the next five working days as to why he should not be permanently expelled, reads the release.
The school headmaster Md Mostafa Kamal filed a case with Tarash police station against the Chhatra League leader and 11 others alleging extortion and vandalism in his school.
In the case statement, the plaintiff alleged that Rana Mondol along with his cohorts led an attack at the primary school on March 5 during its cultural and sports program.
The attackers vandalized the school premises after they were denied Tk2 lakh extortion, the case statement read.
