12 injured as JnU students clash with picnic spot staff in Dinajpur

Five people of the picnic spots have been detained, police say

Around 12 students of Jagannath University (JnU) were injured in a clash with some staff at Shopnopuri, a picnic spot in Dinajpur on Sunday.

Among them, two students, Arafat Hossain and Zahidul Islam, were admitted to M Abdur Rahim Medical College Hospital. The rest are under treatment at Fulbari Upazila Health Complex.

According to the students, a total of 81 students of the Geography and Environment Department went to the Barapukuria Coal Mine in Dinajpur on a study tour.

A student left a bag at the Shopnopuri picnic spot. When the student went there to get her bag, the staff of Shopnopuri teased her, causing a clash to break out between them.

Confirming the news, OC Ferdous Wahid of Nawabganj police station said the situation is currently under control. 

Five people of the Shopnopuri picnic spots have been detained in the incident and the students are going to file a case soon, the OC added. 

Shopnopuri Founder and Managing Director Md Delwar Hossain said this is a tragic incident and actions would be taken if any of his staff is responsible.
