A Chinese surveyor of the Padma rail link project, who had been injured in a road crash on the Shibchar highway in Madaripur district, died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Saturday.
The deceased was Saing, 32, who lived in a makeshift camp near the project location in Bhanga.
According to the person who brought him to the hospital in an injured state, Saing was on his way to oversee the work of the project adjacent to the Arial Khan Bridge on a pick-up via the Shibchar highway around 8am.
On the way, the vehicle carrying him collided head-on with a truck, leaving him critically injured.
Later, he was rushed to DMCH around 10am where duty doctors declared him dead.
Inspector Md Bacchu Miah, in-charge of the DMCH police outpost, confirmed the matter.
The body has been kept at the DMCH morgue.
