Several motorcycles were vandalized and set on fire in an alleged attack by the BNP on Awami League leaders and activists in Sirajganj on Saturday morning.
The incident took place in the Paikpara area of Sirajganj Sadar upazila when Awami League leaders and activists were gathering to attend a peace rally.
Sirajganj Awami League General Secretary Abdus Samad Talukdar said their leaders and activists were preparing for the peace rally when BNP men attacked them.
Both parties threw bricks and stones at each other. At that time, BNP activists vandalized some motorcycles and set them on fire, he claimed.
Sirajganj BNP General Secretary Saidur Rahman Bachchu could not be reached for comment.
Sirajganj Sadar police station Inspector Suman Kumar Das said the police had already gone to the spot and that the situation was now under control.
