A staff of Barisal Sher E Bangla Medical College Hospital has been suspended allegedly over molesting a female student of Nursing College in Medicine Unit-4 of the hospital on Monday.
The hospital authorities temporarily suspended the accused employee Ifat Sanyamat after the nursing students protested at the incident.
A three-member investigation committee has also been formed, said the hospital authorities.
The students of Barisal Nursing College said that a second-year student of the college went to visit the doctor in medicine ward-4 of the hospital on Monday morning. There, an employee of that ward Ifat Sanyamat misbehaved with her and tried to molest her.
The accused also took a photo of the student's ID card threatening to spread it on social media. Hearing the incident, other students staged a protest in front of the emergency department of the medical college hospital demanding justice and exemplary punishment of the accused.
The victim said that when she went to the medicine department for treatment, Ifat Sanyamat misbehaved with her and slapped her. He even made rude comments when she was passing in front of the college canteen.
“This happened to me today, who can give guarantee that this won't happen to anyone else. So, I demand a fair trial and exemplary punishment of the liable,” the victim said.
Accused Ifat Sanyamat could not be reached for comments.
In this regard, Barisal Sher E Bangla Medical College Hospital Director HM Saiful Islam said that the accused Ifat Sanyamat has been suspended. Besides, a committee of three members has been formed. If the allegations are proved after the investigation, the accused will be dismissed permanently.
