Suspended Gazipur Metropolitan Jubo Mohila League organizing secretary Sultana Lata Sobha, who was recently relieved of the post after a video of her taking drugs went viral on social media, has claimed that it is a conspiracy against her and that she will take legal action against it.
Sobha said: “The video which went viral was edited and a conspiracy was hatched against me. For fun, I did use a hookah but there were no drugs in it.”
“A close relative of mine who was present took the pictures and videos. I am owed a few lakh takas by that relative for selling him bricks but he was not paying up. This deteriorated our relationship. A complaint has also been made to the police station in this regard,” she added.
On Sunday, Gazipur Metropolitan Jubo Mohila League President Advocate Ayesha Akhter and General Secretary Anwara Sarkar Anu jointly signed a letter confirming Sobha's suspension.
Ayesha Akhtar said for the past few days, a video of Sobha taking drugs has been circulating in various media including social media.
Anwara Sarkar Anu said: “The image of the party was damaged as her drug-consumption video went viral. As per the central decision, she was suspended from the party.”
