The much-awaited ruling Awami League's rally in Rajshahi has begun, with thousands of leaders and activists at the venue.
The rally began with the recitation from the holy Quran at around 12pm on Sunday, at the city's Madrasa ground.
Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina reached the venue. She is set to address the nation soon.
People from different districts gathered at the Rajshahi venue since morning to welcome Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Awami League leaders and activists were seen heading towards the venue since 9am, holding rallies and chanting slogans to receive the party chief.
Rajshahi adopted a festive look with well-decorated streetlights, colourful festoons, and banners.
The ruling party will formally start its election campaign in the country's northern regions through this public rally.
This divisional district has long been known as the country's city of education because of its several famous educational institutions.
The current Rajshahi has almost every modern facility, as the current government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has spent hundreds of crores on various development works in the division.
