A fisherman was seriously injured by a tiger in the Amurbunia area of east Sundarbans on Friday.
The injured, Anukul Gain, 45, is undergoing treatment at Khulna Medical College Hospital.
Nidhir Gain, brother of Anukul Gain, said a tiger suddenly attacked Anukul Gain when he went fishing with his neighbour's son, Mahbub Sheikh.
Some 15-20 people from the nearby Amurbunia village rushed to the forest and rescued Anukul Gain when Mahbub screamed for help. Anukul Gain was later admitted to Morrelganj Upazila Health Complex.
Dr Kamal Hossain Mufti, family planning officer at Morrelganj Upazila Health Complex, said Anukul suffered two deep injuries to the right side of his waist. He was given first aid and quickly shifted to Khulna Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment.
