Relatives of a deceased man have blocked the Bhogra bypass road in Gazipur bringing an allegation of his death in police custody after arrest.
They blocked the road around 11am on Wednesday.
According to witnesses, a team of Bason police arrested some people in the area earlier in the day. Among them, one arrestee, Rabiul, was injured seriously and died later.
When the news of his death reached his relatives, they blocked the road in the area alleging that the man died due to police torture.
They also vandalized a vehicle which was also torched later.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bason police station Malek Khosru said that based on a complaint of local residents, the family Rabiul was contacted and asked to bring him to the police station.
Later, he died after being injured as a car hit him while he was coming to the police station with his relatives. But the rumour spread that he died due to police torture, he said.
Later, the relatives of the deceased blocked the road.
Police are trying to bring the situation under control, said the OC.
