A journalist was killed in a knife attack at Faruki Park in Brahmanbaria Monday evening.
The deceased is Ashiqul Islam, district correspondent of Daily Monitor and own correspondent of local daily Brahmanbaria Patrika.
Witnesses said that he was returning home in an autorickshaw after a program from the park at about 7pm. After going some distance from the spot, some unknown people ambushed him.
Dhaka TribuneWhen he fell on the ground, the attackers stabbed him and fled. Later, when the locals took him to sadar hospital with serious injuries, the doctor on duty declared him dead.
The police arrested a person named Raihan on suspicion of involvement in the incident. However, the police have not yet confirmed why Ashiq was killed.
