The movement of ferries on the Aricha-Kazirhat and Paturia-Daulatdia routes has been suspended as dense fog blankets the Padma and the Jamuna.
Ferry services were halted on the Aricha-Kazirhat route at 7am and Paturia-Daulatdia at 7:15am on Saturday due to low visibility, BIWTC Paturia Ghat Deputy General Manager Shah Mohammad Khaled Newaz said.
He added that a ro-ro ferry, Shah Enayetpuri, was stranded in the middle of the river with vehicles and passengers.
The movement of all other engine-run boats and launches was also suspended, he said.
