A mobile court in Barguna shut down two illegal brick kilns in Amtali upazila following the
instruction from the High Court.
The brick kilns named MS Mahbub Bricks of Haldia Union and MS Bricks of Amtali Sadar Union were closed on Thursday.
Barguna district administration Executive Magistrate Mahfuzur Rahman conducted a drive with the help of Amtali police station.
Besides, the manager of MS Mahbub Bricks, Farooq Hossain, 50, was arrested and sentenced to three months in jail, according to Section 14 of the Brick Kiln Act, 2013. The sentence was given as MS Mahbub Bricks was operating without a license.
On the other hand, MS Bricks burned woods that are harmful to the environment.
Executive Magistrate Mahfuzur Rahman said that such operations will continue in the public interest.
