A case has been started against a man for placing a holy Quran at a church in Rajshahi on the day of Christmas.
Kasiadanga police station SI Muklesur Rahman filed the case at around 6:10pm on Sunday.
The arrestee has been identified as Golam Chowdhury.
He has been handed over to the Detective Branch (DB) of the Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP), said OC Moshiur Rahman Kasiadanga police station.
In this regard, RMP Commissioner Abu Kalam Siddique said that the man was detained on Sunday afternoon.
He kept a holy Quran inside a local church in a red bag and ran away from the place. The bag was later found by a nun in that church, the official added.
"Later, officials from DB identified the youth with the help of IT and arrested him," the police commissioner said,
He also said: "It is believed that the man left the holy Quran in the church to create communal violence on Christmas day."
