Eight people who were abducted in the Jahaspura hill under the Bharcchara union in Teknaf upazila of Cox's Bazar have returned to their homes injured after three days.
Teknaf police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Abdul Halim said they returned home at 2am on Thursday.
On Sunday, a group of suspected Rohingya miscreants abducted eight Bangladeshis who went fishing in a canal at Teknaf in Cox's Bazar.
The eight abducted were Mohammad Ullah, Mustafa Kamal, Karim Ullah, Md Riduan, Salim Ullah, Nurul Haque, Nurul Abshar, and Nur Mohammad.
For 3 days, more than 400 people, including the administration and locals, embarked on a rescue operation for the kidnapped in the mountainous region.
Mohammad Habib, a family member of one of the abductees, said the kidnappers physically tortured them for the ransom money. They have wounds on different parts of their bodies.
“However, the kidnappers released them and thanks to Almighty Allah they returned home,” Habib said.
“I am grateful to the administration and those who supported our family during the rescue operation,” he added.
OC Abdul Halim said soon police will get details about the abductions from them once they recover from their injuries.
