Freezing fog: 18 road crashes reported in few hours on Dhaka-Tangail Highway; 3 dead

Among the victims, there was a student who was going to Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University to be admitted there

At least 18 accidents were reported on Dhaka-Tangail road in few hours on Thursday morning due to dense fog.

Three people including a student were killed and at least fifteen others injured in the accidents. 

The accidents occurred on a one kilometre road from Dhalla to Charpara in Mirzapur, Madarjani area of sadar upazila and Jagatpur area of Bhuapur upazila.

Mollah Tutul, officer-in-charge of Gorai Highway police station, said that the vehicular movement on Dhaka-bound lane halted because of the accidents on the highways. 

The OC also said that a bus helper was killed as a pickup van hit a bus from behind.

The details of the identity of the bus could not be known immediately.

Faridul Islam, officer-in-charge of Bhuapur upazila said that a college student was killed on Bhuapur-Tarakandi road around 9:30am when a sand-laden truck hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw.

The deceased was identified Ishrak, 20, son of Abu Sayed, resident of Sarishabari upazila of Jamalpur district. 

Two others including Ishrak's father were injured in the accident. 

Abu Sayed said that he along with his son were going to Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University to admit Ishrak there. 

In another accident, a motorcyclist was killed when a vehicle hit his bike in Madarjani area of Korotia union in the morning.
