Locals formed a human chain and held a rally to get employment opportunities in the development of Payra marine port.
The event was held at Madhya-Tiakhali village near Payara marine port on Monday morning.
Among others Tiakhali union Awami League Vice President Abdul Khalek Howladar, Hasan Molla, Jubo League leader Wahiduzzaman, and Kamal Molla, addressed the program.
The speakers said that the working people of the area were not being given a chance in the ongoing work of Spectra Engineering Limited's six-lane connecting road. Workers were brought from other parts of the country although the locals have helped to complete the development work of Payra marine port.
Still, hundreds of working people in the area are unable to engage in any work, said the speakers.
They added that they will go for tougher move if the unemployed laborers were not given the opportunity to work immediately.
