Two people were sent to jail on Monday over the attack on Sohag Rahman, general secretary of Galachipa Press Club and Patuakhali district correspondent for Mohana Television.
Sohag is undergoing treatment at Galachipa Hospital.
The attack took place in Galachipa upazila of Patuakhali district on Sunday. Following the incident, Sohag filed a case against five accused with Galachipa police station. Police have arrested two of the accused.
The arrestees are Maruf, 37 and Akid, 28.
Police later sent the two to Patuakhali jail after producing them before the court on Monday, confirmed Shonit Kumar Gain, OC of Galachipa police station.
Police sources and the injured journalist said that around 8pm on Sunday, the attack took place outside the Galachipa municipal town's post office. Sohag had sustained severe wounds to his left eye and left jaw as a result. The miscreants also stole his laptop and camera.
