A Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSC) examinee was killed while trying to save her father in a clash over a land dispute in Dinajpur's Birganj area.
Four more people were injured in this incident.
The incident took place at Distapara village of Bhognagar Union of Birganj upazila around 2pm on Sunday.
The deceased is Akhi Akhtar, 20. She is the daughter of Aktarul Islam.
She was attending HSC exam from Birganj Government College Government College this year.
Police have detained five people for questioning in connection with the clash.
The detainees are Rashida Begum, Sabina Akhtar, Shakil Hossain, Rubel. They have been kept in Birganj police station.
According to local and police sources, A disagreement arose about 7% of land that belonged to Aktarul Islam, Riazul Islam, and Rokeya Begum, their cousin sister.
On a Sunday afternoon, Rokeya Begum went to claim that land. They got into a fight at this point. The altercation left Akhi Akhter critically hurt.
She was thereafter taken to Dinajpur M Abdur Rahim Medical College Hospital where Akhi passed away there while receiving treatment.
Subrata Kumar Sarkar, officer-in-charge (OC) of Birganj police station, said that after receiving the information, five people were arrested. A case will be filed in this regard.
