The body of a young man was buried under police custody in Sylhet as anonymous after his mother and wife denied receiving his body.
The tragic incident happened with the youth named Foisal Ahmed, 35, son of Abdul Motaleb and Akhi Begum hailing from Keraniganj's Kushiar Bagh area.
Sub-inspector Md Azizul Haque of Kotwali Police Station of Sylhet Metropolitan Police, confirmed the matter.
Foisal roamed here and there like a vagabond day after day. Police recovered his decomposed body on Monday night as an unidentified one following a phone call at national emergency number 999.
After that, the Criminal Investigation department (CID) of Police confirmed the identity of the youth by his NID card.
Later, the police contacted the family of Foisal in Keraniganj. But neither his mother nor his wife showed interest in taking his body.
Then Faisal was buried in the graveyard of Manikpir (RA) in Sylhet under police custody last Tuesday night.
The SI Azizul Haque said that it did not seem that the death was unusual or mysterious as there was no sign of injury on the body of the youth.
Quoting the family, this police officer also said that Foisal left home about 5 years ago. He did not return home later. Since then he wandered here and there like a vagabond. At one stage, the young man's wife left her husband's house.
“We contacted repeatedly to take the body but no one agreed. Therefore, the body of the young man was buried last night at Manikpir Tila in Sylhet,” said the SI.
