2 policemen injured in Bogra crude bomb explosions

A case has been filed agaisnt 18 BNP men, say police

Two policemen were injured as two crude bombs exploded in separate incidents at Sariakandi upazila in Bogra on Thursday night.

Besides, police recovered three crude bombs and parts of the exploded bombs. 

SI Hossain Ali of Sariakandi police station has filed a case against 18 BNP men including a upazila unit BNP leader Noore Azam Babu. 

Rajesh Kumar Chakraborty, officer-in-charge of Sariakandi police station said that none of the accused could be arrested till Friday afternoon.

According to the police, a group of BNP and affiliated organization leaders and activists gathered in Hatfulbari at Katakhali Government Primary School grounds at around 8pm on Thursday, led by Kazi Rafiqul Islam, a member of the recently formed executive committee of Sariakandi upazila BNP.

On information that the BNP men were carrying explosives to sabotage, a team of police went to the spot. 

Then, BNP and other group activists opened fire on the cops and blasted a crude bomb. SI Kamrul Hasan and Constable Abdus Samad were injured by the sprinter.

On the other hand, BNP leaders and activists hurled another crude bomb at Sahapara intersection of the municipality around 9:30pm. 

Fear gripped residents of Sahapara in the Sariakandi municipal region after the explosion.

Kazi Rafiqul Islam, a member of the upazila BNP executive committee, claimed he was unaware of the incident.
