Five Brazilian supporters were injured in a clash between Argentina and Brazil fans in Gopalganj.
The clash took place after the Argentina-Saudi Arabia match on Tuesday.
Sources said that there was an altercation between Argentina and Brazil supporters in the evening in Nabinbagh Markas Mohalla in Gopalganj Sadar following the Argentina vs Saudi Arabia match when Argentina fans attacked and injured five Brazilian fans.
Among the injured, Subrata Jamadar, son of Biplab Jamadar, and Ashiq Jamadar, son of Arun Jamadar, have been admitted to the Gopalganj 250 bed General Hospital. The remaining three injured people received initial care in the hospital's emergency room before being released.
Gopalganj Sadar police station officer-in-charge (OC) Jabed Masud said that following Argentina's loss against Saudi Arabia, Brazil supporters insulted Argentina supporters. Following that, there was a fight between fans of the two teams. Five Brazil supporters sustained injuries during the clash.
“Legal action is being taken in this regard,” he added.
