A case has been filed against eight people including Bancharampur police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Noore Alam and Superintendent of Police (SP) Mohammad Anisur Rahman over the death of Chhatra Dal leader Rafiqul Islam Nayan.
Apart from this, eight to 10 other unknown accused have been made in the case.
Nayan's father Rahmat Ullah filed a murder case with police constable Biswajit Chandra Das as the main accused four days after the incident. He filed the case in the court of senior judicial magistrate (4th) on Wednesday morning.
According to the case statement, BNP's leaflet distribution program was going on in Brahmanbaria's Bancharampur on November 19. At that time, members of the law and order forces came to the scene and attacked suddenly.
At that time constable Biswajit Chandra Das fired a shotgun in the stomach of Sonarampur union Chhatra Dal leader Rafiqul Islam Nayan. He was first sent to Bancharampur Upazila Health Complex and was referred to Dhaka for better treatment. However, he died before reaching the capital.
Advocate MA Mannan and Advocate Ariful Haque Masud, the lawyers of the plaintiffs in the case, said that the court has informed that an order will be issued in this regard. As the police did not take the case, the plaintiff appeared before the court.
Meanwhile, Rahmat Ullah, the father of the slain Chhatra Dal leader, told reporters: “My son has not done anything wrong. He was shot dead for no reason. I expect justice from the court.”
During the hearing of the case, more than 50 lawyers of the Nationalist Lawyers Forum were present.
