Brazil-Argentina flag fight in Kushtia

Locals and fans of Argentina and Brazil teams are confident that their respective sides will win the World Cup

The supporters of Argentina and Brazil team have hoisted flags in two remote villages of Mirpur upazila in Kushtia.

It is known that around 450 feet long flags have been raised in support of Brazil football team in Katlamari area of Sadarpur union of Mirpur upazila on Kushtia-Meherpur Regional Highway.

Apart from this, the Argentina supporters' group have raised a flag about 270 feet long in Tilkandra village of Fulbaria union of the same upazila.

Locals and fans of Argentina and Brazil teams in those two locations are really eager to fly such flags. They are also confident that their respective sides will win the World Cup.

Salman Raj Saddam, a supporter of the neighbourhood Brazil football team in Sadarpur union of the upazila, stated that the flag has been flown in Katlamari neighbourhood in support of the Brazil football team since 2010. This time, a 450 cubits long flag is made at a cost of around Tk10,000 to create. The 650-hand flag was drawn for the most recent World Cup.

An Argentine fan from the upazila of Fulbaria union named Nazmul Islam said that a 270-foot flag had been raised in the town of Tilkandra in support of the Argentina football squad. A successful team performance will result in a longer flag.

In addition, on the days that the Argentina game is played, roughly 50 people will eat. A plan has been made for everyone to sit and watch the game together.

He said: "I'm hoping Argentina wins the World Cup this time. We will still support the squad even if they lose, though."
