Father, son kidnapped, 8L robbed in Manikganj

The car's license plate was obscured by a white tint, says the OC

A group of criminals held a farmer and his son captive on Monday while posing as RAB officers and robbed Tk7,95,000 from them in Daschira cemetery area of Ulail union in Shivalaya upazila of Manikganj.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Shivalaya police station Shah Noor A Alam confirmed the matter.

Shivalaya police Sub Inspector (SI) Aminul Islam said that farmer Torap Ali, 50, and his son Rubel, 28, withdrew Tk545,000 from the neighbourhood Agrani Bank, Aricha Ghat branch and Tk2.5 lakh from the Sonali Bank Shivalaya branch on Monday.

They were traveling in the direction of the village of Birajpur on a motorcycle after withdrawing the money. On the way, a silver-coloured private car stopped in front of Daschira Cemetery on Tepra-Ulail union.

All four individuals inside the private car, including the driver, introduced themselves as RAB officials and forcibly took the two inside the private car. Later, they snatched Tk795,000 from the father son duo and left them in the Nabagram Fire Service office area on the Dhaka-Paturia road. Later, the locals rescued them and informed the police.

In this regard, the victim Torap Ali filed a written complaint at Shivalaya police station.

OC Shah Noor A Alam, in this regard, stated that video footage from various locations on the route is collected. However, on the video clip, the car's license plate was obscured by a white tint.
