Korean film festival to be held in December in Chittagong

The Korean Embassy is holding the Korean Film Festival in in the Theater Institute of Chittagong on December 1-3 for the first time.

Five movies, “Escape from Mogadishu”, “The Dude in Me”, “The Battle of Gangsari”, “Underdog” and “The Age of Shadows” will be displayed. The movies were also displayed during the 2022 Korean Film Festival in November in Dhaka. 

Md Rezaul Karim Chowdhury, mayor of the Chittagong City Corporation, will be expected to grace the occasion as the chief guest. Ambassador Lee Jang-keun of the Republic of Korea to Bangladesh will also attend the event as a special guest.

Besides the film screening, a K-pop singing and dance performance, ramp walk, Korean food stalls etc. will be organized to bring the K-culture lovers closure to the Korean Community in Chittagong.    

Bangladesh and Korea have many similarities in history, tradition, and culture. Based on our similarities and strong diplomatic ties, cultural exchange between the two nations can be one of the means of strengthening cooperation. This festival is a testament to that. 

2023 will mark the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Bangladesh and Korea. To celebrate the occasion, cultural exchange between the two countries will be increased through special events.
