A Chhatra Dal leader was shot dead in Brahmanbaria during a chase and counter-chase between BNP and police ahead of the party's divisional rally in Comilla.

At least five others were also injured in the incident that took place on Saturday afternoon, reports Bangla Tribune.

The deceased has been identified as Rafiqul Islam Nayan, vice-president of Sonarampur Union Chhatra Dal.

Nayan was reportedly shot in the stomach and chest by the police.
